Dr. Carla Emery-Culberson is a twenty-five year practicing podiatric physician in Austin Texas. Her practice serves children and adults in need of assistance for podiatric medical conditions and surgery.
She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She integrated and graduated from Northwest Classen High School before receiving her Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Oklahoma State University. After teaching for 3 years at Jarmon Junior High in Midwest City, Oklahoma, Carla entered medical school at a private medical facility, the California College of Podiatric Medicine and graduated in 1981. She was the first podiatric resident at the VA Medical Center in Waco, Texas as well as the first woman podiatrist in Central Texas entering private practice in April 1983. Dr. Emery received a Masters Degree in Public Health in May 2004 from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Emery is a diplomat of the American Board of Lower Extremity Surgeons in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Afsha Naimat-Shahzad is thrilled to be jointing Central Texas Podiatry Associates In July, 2018. She was born in Karachi, Pakistan and raised in Boca Raton, Florida. She received her Bachelor's in Science Degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. with a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in Healthcare Administration. She graduated with her Doctorate in Podiatric medicine from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Fl. Dr Naimat-Shahzad completed a three year Comprehensive surgical residency at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. During her residency, she had the privilege of treating Division 1 college athletes at the University of Pennsylvania Sports Medicine Department.
